We're still months away from the 2015 NFL Draft, but for some, watching film of prospects never stops.
That's certainly the case for NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah, who made several interesting comparisons between current college stars and some big NFL names on his @Movethesticks twitter account.Â
Williams is one of the best defensive linemen in the country and has picked up his play as of late to boot, turning in a stellar game against Arizona on the road a few weeks ago to help pull off a top 10 upset for the Trojans.
Seymour, who was an All-American at Georgia in college, is bigger than Williams by roughly an inch. In his final snaps in the league back in 2012, Seymour weighed about 20 pounds more too. Still, it's not hard to see how the two have similarities when it comes to their play on the field and that's one reason why Williams has been talked about as a potential top 10 pick when the time comes.
Jeremiah later mentioned that the USC star could be a dominant five-technique in the NFL, a position Williams has taken more reps at this year for the Trojans in new coordinator Justin Wilcox's defensive scheme. He has spent time further inside as an underclassmen, but the ability to play both the three and five technique gives him flexibility and should help boost his stock considering the number of teams who try to give multiple looks to offenses in the NFL nowadays.
One area where Jeremiah's comparison might not hold up could be each player's time in college. Seymour spent a full four seasons in Athens, whereas most consider this to be Williams' final year in Los Angeles before he declares early following his junior season.
Williams wasn't the only one that got a favorable comparison among college defensive linemen.
A senior, Beasley is the all-time sacks leader at Clemson and is fourth in the nation this season with eight sacks. He recently drew high praise from NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock, who said he thinks Beasley has first-round potential.
