Ex-scout: Brett Hundley lacks instincts to be good NFL QB

Utah's defense swarmed UCLA QB Brett Hundley in the Bruins' loss Saturday.

UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley's play Saturday in the Bruins' loss to Utah raised concerns about his pocket awareness, and apparently didn't do him any favors where his evaluation as a draft prospect is concerned.

The Utes dropped the star junior for 10 sacks, resulting in losses of 59 yards. While pass protection on the Bruins' offensive line was a major issue, Hundley held the ball too long at times and appeared to be looking at the rush rather than keeping his eyes downfield late in the game.

During the game, former Chicago Bears director of college scouting Greg Gabriel tweeted "Hundley does not have the instincts to be a good NFL QB," and followed with another tweet suggesting that Hundley would be wise to stay at UCLA for his senior year in 2015.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah noticed some of the same issues with Hundley.

Hundley and the Bruins will look to repair their pass protection issues this week in preparation for arguably their biggest game of the season, playing host Saturday to Oregon.

Midway through his third season as a starter, Hundley has taken a whopping 107 career sacks.
