How to Lose a Game in 10 Ways made its worldwide debut Sunday at Heinz Field.
From a slow start, to botched plays, to poor end-game defense, to a dropped flea-flicker, the Pittsburgh Steelers allowed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hang around and ended up losing 27-24 on a last-second touchdown.
An irate Tomlin called his players "undisciplined."
"The defining factor in determining the outcome of that football game is that we were way too highly penalized," Tomlin said. "It's ridiculous."
Six of the penalties were the 15-yard variety, with two of those coming in the form of taunting (Le'Veon Bell) and unsportsmanlike conduct (Antonio Brown).
"Post-play penalties are ridiculous," Tomlin said. "That we have full control over."
Pittsburgh is averaging 11 penalties a game through the first four weeks of the 2014 season.
At 2-2 the Steelers blew a chance to keep pace with the Baltimore Ravens in a tight AFC North. Pittsburgh now sits in third place at the quarter-pole with an uphill battle in their future.
