Teddy Bridgewater did everything the Minnesota Vikings could have asked for in his first start on Sunday -- except finish the game.
The rookie quarterback injured his ankle in the fourth quarter of a 41-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Bridgewater told NFL Media's Omar Ruiz he suffered a sprain and expects to start when the Vikings face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer echoed his quarterback's sentiment during his postgame news conference.
"I assume he's going to play," Zimmer said. "Teddy is pretty dang tough."
Bridgewater was excellent before the injury, completing 19 of 30 for 317 yards. He added 27 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. The first-round pick played turnover-free ball and pushed the ball downfield with confidence.
"He's too calm, man," Cordarrelle Patterson said of Bridgewater's huddle presence, according to The Star Tribune. "He's too calm under pressure."
Not a bad trait for a quarterback making his first career start.
