Matthew Stafford had an eventful Friday morning.

The Detroit Lions quarterback was driving around 6 a.m. to the team facility when he became one of several motorists stranded after a pedestrian bridge collapsed on a freeway on Detroit's west side.

A truck driver hit the 15-foot-high pedestrian bridge, causing the collapse. The driver died Friday morning, according to the Michigan State Police.

A Lions spokesman told the Detroit Free Press that Stafford was fine and made it to the team's facility. The quarterback did not see the bridge collapse but was one of the first vehicles stopped by the debris.
