Injury roundup: Arian Foster, MJD out

Sunday morning in the NFL started with some surprising injury news for the fantasy football faithful out there. Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew, and Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce are all out.

Jones-Drew practiced throughout the week as he returned from "minor" hand surgery, and reportedly impressed with his progress. But NFL Media's Steve Wyche spoke with Raiders coach Dennis Allen on Sunday, who confirmed Jones-Drew is out. Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will carry the load for the Raiders in Foxborough against the Patriots. Allen needs all the help he can get as he tries to save his job.

You can see all the inactives here. Here are the injuries we're tracking Sunday morning:

  1. Foster was a surprising scratch. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported that Foster was not expected to playin New York against the Giants. NFL Media's Kim Jones later confirmed Foster is indeed out. Alfred Blue is first up in line for carries, but Jonathan Grimes and Ronnie Brown should be in the mix.
  1. Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce is out. He barely practiced during the week because of his thigh injury, and the Ravens signed a runner (Fitzgerald Toussaint) off their practice squad over the weekend. Justin Forsett should start.
  1. Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will test out his high ankle sprain before Sunday's game in Miami. Rapoport says that Charles is not expected to play against the Dolphins, which would give all the carries to Knile Davis. Charles did practice on Thursday and Friday, so his status will not be certain until game time. UPDATE: Charles is inactive for the game.
  1. Shaun Hill is expected to miss another week, per Rapoport. Austin Davis is expected to start at quarterback for the St. Louis Ramsagainst Dallas.
  1. Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron is active after testing his shoulder before the game.
  1. DeSean Jackson is active for the Washington Redskins against his former team in Philadelphia. Tight end Jordan Reed is out.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Marqise Lee is inactive. Cecil Shorts is back for the Jaguars and will start.
  1. A.J. Green is active for the Cincinnati Bengals. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict (concussion) is out.
  1. Packers offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga and cornerback Casey Hayward are both active.
  1. New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson and running back James White were healthy scratches. Running back Shane Vereen (shoulder) is active.
