Coach John Fox told reporters earlier in the day that Welker is "feeling good" and will be back out on the field "when he's deemed healthy."
Asked if he had received any indication Welker is considering retirement, Fox replied, "That's not been brought up at all. You'd have to talk to Wes. I didn't sense that."
The Broncos' staff plans to approach Welker's status "one day at a time."
The vibe out of Denver is that Welker has avoided the worst-case scenario that had football observers concerned immediately following Saturday night's hit from Texans safety D.J. Swearinger in the 18-17 loss to Houston.
There's even hope that Welker will make it back for the season opener.
