Then come the counterpunch from Bush, who took a handoff, darted through a huge whole (thanks to a good block from rookie tight end Eric Ebron) and out-sprinted the Jags' secondary for an 86-yard touchdown. Even at 29 years old, Bush can outrun the angle:
"He still is who he is, right?" Caldwell said of Bush, per the Detroit News. "A guy with a lot of speed and burst and can still run away from some of the young fellas out there."
While Bush is the starter and bigger name, don't be shocked if Bell -- playing the Pierre Thomas-role in Joe Lombardi's offense -- actually sees more carries and snaps in 2014.
Bell can be a bruising inside runner, create a crease and is a good receiver in the pass game.
Caldwell has said he wants a power run game to complement the passing weapons. In the Lions perfect world, Bell will deliver the punishment to defenses and soften it up for Bush to create big plays like we saw Friday.
