Report: Brett Keisel declines Cardinals' advances

The Pittsburgh-to-Arizona pipeline is warming up again.

In the aftermath of Darnell Dockett's season-ending knee injury, the Arizona Cardinals reached out to free agent defensive end Brett Keisel on Tuesday, reports Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic.

The 12-year veteran has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, coinciding with Bruce Arians' 2004-2011 stint as Steelers assistant coach.

Keisel started 12 games last season, but the Steelers were content to keep him on their emergency list rather than re-signing him for a major role.

Turning 36 in September, Keisel would have filled a rotational role behind Calais Campbell and Frostee Rucker, but NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports such a move is "very unlikely."

Update: Per Somers, Keisel declined the Cardinals' invitation for a physical because he didn't want to leave his family in Pennsylvania.
