Oklahoma has to replace a lot of production at running back and could be even thinner at the position than first thought.

Freshman running back Joe Mixon "is not reporting for team activities at this time," the Oklahoma Athletics office announced Wednesday. Police are investigating allegations that Mixon punched a woman. Oklahoma also announced it would "continue to monitor the situation."

Mixon, a five-star running back out of high school, allegedly punched a female Oklahoma student during an altercation at an off-campus restaurant last Friday. Mixon said through his attorney that he acted in self-defense. Mixon has not been arrested or charged with any crimes.

"(Mixon) punched me one time," the alleged victim, Amelia Rae Molitor, told NewsOK.com. "He broke my face in four places ... my nose, my sinuses ... they're broken."

A top recruit from Oakley, Calif., Mixon was expected to compete for playing time early in fall camp for the Sooners.

Sophomores Keith Ford, Alex Ross and Daniel Brooks will likely be competing for the starting spot in the backfield when Oklahoma opens fall camp next week.
