Although Davis forfeited a $200,000 workout bonus and racked up a $70,000 fine for his offseason absence, he recently conceded that it's "not the end of the world" if his actions don't result in a new contract.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that while Davis showed up, he's still hoping for a new deal, per a source close to the player. Davis' reasons for reporting to camp are twofold: 1) The 49ers only negotiate with players who report; and 2) The tight end didn't want to get fined $30,000 a day.
Rapoport previously had reported that Boone will not rejoin teammates without a pay raise. The 49ers have a deep and talented offensive line, so it will be interesting to see which side blinks first in the contract standoff.
