The Bills added the fourth-year defensive tackle to their active/non-football injury list Saturday. The reason Dareus was placed on the list is unknown at this time.
Dareus still counts against Buffalo's 90-man cap roster. He can be removed from the list at any time, but cannot practice with the team until that happens.
It's the latest setback following a disappointing offseason for the former third overall pick. In April, Dareus was arrested in Alabama and charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A month later, he was charged in connection with an alleged street-racing accident. He could be facing an NFL-mandated suspension for his behavior.
The Bills' patience could be wearing thin, though Dareus' play undoubtedly helps his cause. He had 7.5 sacks and 71 tackles in 2013, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. The Bills exercised Dareus' 2015 team option in April.
