Conference realignment: A mini-primer on the changes for 2014

The latest round of conference realignment became official Tuesday.

Half of the nation's 10 FBS conferences were affected, with the biggest change happening in the Big Ten with the additions of Maryland and Rutgers. The league's footprint now extends from Lincoln, Neb., to Piscataway, N.J., and league mascots were in New York on Tuesday morning to make sure everybody there knows about the new Big Ten.

The addition of three teams from the FCS ranks swells the number of FBS schools to 128.

Here's a look at the changes and the current makeup of the 10 FBS leagues. We have ranked them in terms of strength on the field this fall.
