Adrian Wilson will get another shot to extend his impressive NFL career.
Wilson was excellent during his 12-year career with the Cardinals, using 4.4 speed, sure tackling and hard-hitting to stand out as one of the few bright spots on those pre-Super Bowl teams. He had an uncanny ability to get to the QB, registering eight sacks in 2005 and 25.5 during his career.
However, Wilson's vaunted speed is gone with age, and he was removed from nickel duty during his final season with the Cards after a fine 2011.
Safety is a real weak spot for the Bears, with Ryan Mundy and the pedestrian Chris Conte slated to start. Even though he turns 35 in October and hasn't played since 2012, Wilson should have a real chance to leapfrog one of them in training camp. The voice of the defense already is excited for him to join the club.
Want to welcome Adrian Wilson. Looking forward to taking the field with the enforcer!â Lance Briggs (@LanceBriggs) June 23, 2014
