He said Thursday that he's "geeked" to prove that he has plenty of football left in his legs.
"I'm champing at the bit to get out there," Wayne said, via Mike Wells of ESPN.com. "Like I told our receiving coach (Charlie Williams), I'm the Chevy that's in the garage. As soon as you open the garage, I'm out, I'm gone. I'm just waiting until they tell me I can suit up and be a normal football player."
Eight months removed from tearing his ACL, Wayne claims not only to be 100 percent recovered but also the healthiest he's been since 2002 (trope alert).
"He told me he will (be ready), that's all I needed," coach Chuck Pagano said. "I've known him long enough where that's all I needed to hear. He looks phenomenal. I'd be shocked if he wasn't ready (for camp). The only reason he might not get reps early will be because of me, if we decide to hold him back."
