LeSean McCoy: I'm the best running back in the NFL

The latest edition of "Professional Athletes are a Confident Species" focuses in on Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.

McCoy led the league in rushing in 2013 and (surprise!) views himself as the best running back in the NFL.

"My brother always rips me all the time, trying to make me play harder," McCoy said on Monday's edition of "First Take," via ESPN.com. "I say, 'I'm the best,' and he'll say, 'Did Adrian Peterson retire?' I look at the last three years and everything. I think A.P. has been the best back for so long, and he's been doing it for so long, that's why he automatically gets the best running back (title)."

"But the last three years? I've been All-Pro, first-team, twice. I never leave the field. I block. I catch. I never leave the field. I don't have anybody do my job; I do it myself. Tons of credit goes out to Adrian Peterson. I'm a big fan of his, for sure. But I feel I'm the best."

For reference: McCoy rushed for 1,607 yards with 539 yards receiving in 2013. An injury-plagued Peterson ran for 1,266 yards with 171 yards receiving following his 2,097-yard rushing season in 2012. McCoy has averaged 1,094 yards rushing in his five-year career with 425 yards receiving per season. Peterson averages 1,445 yards rushing and 242 yards receiving.

McCoy is a two-time Pro Bowl player with two first-team All-Pro selections. Peterson is a six-time Pro Bowl pick with three first-team All-Pro berths and three appearances as a second-team All-Pro. McCoy's Eagles have gone 43-37 in his five seasons. Peterson's Vikings have gone 54-57 in seven seasons.
