Seahawks traded down after Patriots picked Easley

When the first-round prospect the Seahawks targeted was drafted out from under them, they decided to trade the No. 32 overall pick to the Vikings.

So who was the player Seattle wanted at the back end of the first round?

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, it was Florida defensive tackle Dominique Easley, who was taken by the Patriots with the 29th pick.

Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn coached Easley at Florida and still carried a torch for the disruptive interior pass rusher.

When Easley came off the board, Seattle's war room reportedly exhibited an "air of deflation."

Easley tore both ACLs at Florida, but was still viewed by some analysts as a top-10 talent in this year's draft class.

One NFL scout told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn that Easley is on par with Pitt's Aaron Donald, who was drafted No. 13 overall by the Rams.

Considering the Super Bowl champions' recent draft success, Patriots fans should feel flattered that they walked away with a player so highly coveted in Seattle's war room.
