General manager Martin Mayhew, speaking to reporters in advance of Thursday's NFL draft, said trading the defensive tackle was not on the table, per the Detroit News.
"I did get a call from a team that had an interest," he said, per Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. "Offered me a box of old tube socks, and I said no thank you."
(Of course, we should point out that no GMs in the history of History have admitted publicly that they'd like to get rid of one of their most important players.)
Martin reiterated that contract talks with Suh were ongoing.
As we noted last month, whether or not a trade was discussed becomes extraneous when you break down the fact that Mayhew -- through the team's makeup and his past moves -- is married to getting a long-term deal done with Suh.
As for the hubbub about the defensive tackle missing voluntary workouts this offseason, Mayhew said he expects Suh to be in camp in mid-May, as has been his custom the past three seasons (two of which were Pro Bowl years).
