Karlos Dansby: I can't stoop to Darnell Dockett's level

Karlos Dansby of the Cleveland Browns isn't in the mood for an all-out war of words with former teammate Darnell Dockett.

"I can't stoop to his level and go down that road with him," Dansby said Wednesday, per The Plain Dealer, when asked about Dockett's accusations that the linebacker "chased" cash over wins when he signed a four-year deal with $12 million in guarantees to play for the Browns.

Cleveland's new edge rusher did, however, fire off one counterblow at Dockett, saying: "I feel he doesn't believe in the guys in his locker room."

Dockett, of course, painted an opposite portrait last week, insisting the "sacrifices" of Arizona's defensive line allowed Dansby, specifially, to emerge as an early candidate for Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.

At best, this springtime feud is a tedious blast of hot air.

As NFL Media's Chris Wesseling pointed out, the 32-year-old Dansby can't be picked apart for chasing the final big-money contract of his lengthy career. Dockett, meanwhile, sounds more disappointed than anything else to see a key player stripped off a Cardinals defense packed with potential.

With any luck, the bickering ends here.
