Day 2 of that visit now includes contract talks. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, via a source informed of the situation, that agent Joel Segal and members of the Redskins brass are sitting down now to begin negotiations. Jackson met earlier with Washington coaches, and planned to meet owner Dan Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen on Tuesday afternoon, according to Rapoport.
Despite a premature report from Philadelphia that Jackson is going to join the Redskins, there are a lot of questions remaining about Jackson's future. Rapoport also said not to be surprised if Jackson's deal exceeds Eric Decker's contract with the New York Jets. (That's no surprise; Jackson is a better player.) The San Francisco 49ers, meanwhile, will only be interested in Jackson if his price tag goes down, according to NFL Media's Albert Breer.
Make no mistake: The full-court press is on, and the Redskins have a good chance to land Jackson. He went out for dinner with the team Monday night, and then DeAngelo Hall, Pierre Garcon and D.C. rapper Wale took Jackson out on the town. (Nothing is less cool to write in an NFL.com article than choosing the appropriate two-word title for someone like Wale. "D.C. rapper" was the best we could do.)Around The League Podcast" the guys do the news, open the mailbag and play "Win Wess' Toaster."
