LeGarrette Blount and the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed on a two-year deal Friday, NFL Media's Albert Breer reported, per a Steelers source. The team later announced Blount signed the deal, and CBS Sports reports the contract is worth $3.85 million.
LeGarrette Blount through the yearsTake a look at the career of LeGarrette Blount through the years.
Blount was excellent down the stretch for the New England Patriots last season. He bulldozed through the Buffalo Bills' defense to the tune of 189 yards and two touchdowns in Week 17. He followed that up with one of the best playoff performances for a running back in recent memory: 166 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the New England Patriots' blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Bell will be the starter after a nice rookie campaign, but Blount will be an effective change-of-pace back with his bruising style. The Steelers are one of the rare teams that can sign a backup running back who isn't a good pass-catcher (Bell excels in that role). However, the 250-pound Blount is sure to be a goal-line vulture.
