NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the veteran linebacker has agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract to remain with the team, according to a source involved with the process.

Pace has been a survivor with the organization since signing a six-year, $42 million contract during free agency in 2008. He was released in a salary cap related move in February 2013, then brought back on a team-friendly one-year deal.

He made the most of the second opportunity, leading the Jets with 10 sacks in 2013. Pace will turn 34 in October, but has been a 16-game starter in each of the last three seasons under Rex Ryan.

The Jets could use May's draft to find Pace's successor to play opposite Quinton Coples at strong-side linebacker. For the time being, Pace is a cost-effective stopgap who could still make an impact.

The "Around The League Podcast" breaks down all the free agency moves and hands out a fleet of high-octane sandwiches.
