Cyrus Kouandjio: Six NFL teams concerned about my knee

Alabama offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio said he has no concerns about his surgically repaired knee, but indicated Wednesday that he learned six NFL clubs do.

"From what I heard, from the stuff you guys wrote, six teams," Kouandjio said at the Crimson Tide's annual pro day event. "But my agent said nobody failed me."

Kouandjio did not specify which news outlet reported that number.

Alabama team doctor Lyle Cain told NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport he understood that several clubs graded Kouandjio with a 4 on a 1-5 scale used to evaluate medical examinations at the NFL Scouting Combine, with a grade of 1 being best. A grade of 4 represents a draft prospect whose injury history indicates no short-term problems, but potentially long-term ones.

Kouandjio, for his part, said he isn't worried about which clubs flagged his medical report with a 4. He said he is focused on the ones who didn't.

"I'm not the type of guy to get frustrated over matters that are out of my control," he said. "All these coaches know there is nothing wrong with my knee. I played two years (after the injury). Four months after my surgery, I was out there playing, until now. I didn't miss a practice, have not missed a game because of my knee, and all these coaches know that. "From what I heard, yeah, that's true," he said, referring to teams that have concerns about his knee. "But my goal is to find one team out there that understands my potential and understands my skill set and takes advantage of that."

Kouandjio went through only position drills at pro day, saying he plans to participate in timed drills, including the 40-yard dash, at another pro day workout for scouts April 8. His 5.59 40-yard dash at the combine was the slowest among offensive linemen.

"My goal is to show a dramatic increase from the last time I got timed," he said.

Kouandjio has dropped 11 pounds since his combine weigh-in of 322 pounds, tipping pro day scales at 311.
