New Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Ray Horton must have been pleased with what he saw on safety Bernard Pollard's 2013 game film.
Pollard tweeted Monday that he has agreed to a new multiyear deal that will keep him in Nashville rather than testing free agency. The team announced the news later that day, with the Tennessean reporting that the contract's duration is two years. Pollard signed the deal Tuesday.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Pollard can earn up to $6.4 million over the duration of the deal. The contract includes an $850,000 signing bonus with a $500,000 roster bonus and $200,000 in workout bonuses.Â
A prototypical box safety, Pollard is an enforcer in the run game but struggles in coverage. As a 16-game starter last season, he played nearly every snap on defense while turning in one of his best seasons.
With Pollard and free safety Michael Griffin under contract, general manager Ruston Webster can cross the position off his list of offseason priorities.
