Former San Diego State running back Adam Muemahas not spoken with Aztecs coaches since he left the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend because he said God told him to.
The San Diego Union Tribune reported Tuesday that a person close to Muema said, "I have no idea where is. [Coaches] have been trying to track him down, too. Every time they do, his phone is off."
San Diego State opens spring practice Wednesday, and Aztecs coach Rocky Long has a post-practice news conference scheduled; presumably, he will be asked about Muema at the news conference.
The Union Tribune reported that it would be "premature" to say Muema is missing. The newspaper contacted what it called his closest family relative, who declined to comment. Sunday, Muema told the Union Tribune that God "told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace."
A former San Diego State teammate, who agreed to speak to the newspaper on the condition of anonymity, described Muema as being family-oriented and "always really religious." Muema told the Union Tribune on Sunday that he communicates with God through numbers.
Muema left San Diego State after his junior season. He rushed for 1,244 yards and 15 TDs in 2013 despite being hampered by a sore ankle that limited him to just 118 yards in the first four games. But he closed strong, with six 100-yard outings in the final nine games. Muema runs low to the ground, is patient and does a nice job of setting up his blocks. He also is an OK receiver. But he lacks breakaway speed and seemed a third-day draft pick, at best, before the weekend's events.
