Charles Woodson's Oakland Raiders homecoming was a success.
The veteran defensive back started in all 16 games last season and played in 1,098 of the team's 1,105 defensive snaps. He made an impact, too, forcing three fumbles and recording an interception. He graded out as the 28th-best safety in the league, per Pro Football Focus, proving he still was a capable player 17 seasons into his career.
Woodson, 37, said in December that he'd like to remain with the Raiders. He reiterated his desire to continue his career this week, telling ESPN Milwaukee, "I definitely plan on playing."
There seems to be mutual interest on the Raiders' side.
"I definitely think he's got something left in the tank," Raiders coach Dennis Allen said at the NFL Scouting Combine. "Obviously, when you get to that age, you never know when the tank's going to empty out. I felt like he brought a lot to the table for our football team this past season. I think he's a guy we'd like to hopefully bring back.
"There's a business side to anything that you do, but I thought from a leadership perspective and really from a playing perspective, I thought he brought a lot to the table."
