Kelcy Quarles respectful of legendary Packers star Reggie White

Kelcy Quarles knows his Green Bay Packers history.

And while that might not get him any closer to the starting lineup if the Packers were to draft the former South Carolina defensive lineman, he at least knows what to strive for.

"I use to watch Reggie White when he was with the Packers and the passion he played with," Quarles told lombardiave.com. "I try to model my game like his. They would have a relentless hard worker that is open to learn and make the team and the organization the best in the National Football League. I would also like to play beside big B.J. Raji."

He also has a pretty long memory. Quarles wasn't even two years old when White's years with the Packers began in 1993, and was just 7 by the time the 2006 Hall of Fame inductee made 16 sacks in 1998, his final season in Green Bay. Quarles probably has a bit better memory of the other Hall of Famer he likes to pattern his game for, Warren Sapp.

"I try to model my game after Warren Sapp. He is a big relentless pass rusher that will do anything to anybody," Quarles said. "I always watched him on YouTube when he played at Miami, and he was a monster. I feel that I bring the same passion and energy that he brings to the game."

It's not the first time Quarles has been compared to the former Miami Hurricanes star. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier did the same last fall when asked about the skill set that helped Quarles deliver 9.5 sacks from an interior defensive line position.

"I've told people he reminds me a little bit of Warren Sapp, because he's got a little bit of a belly, but he can move," Spurrier said.
