Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham's cooperation with police following his arrest on a drug charge last month included his consent to have his cell phone searched and a willingness to submit a DNA sample, both without a warrant.
According to news-leader.com, Green-Beckham has shown a higher level of cooperation than two other men arrested in the same incident, Patrick Prouty and John McDaniel, after police discovered a pound of marijuana in a Jeep Cherokee during a routine traffic stop.
The vehicle belonged to and was driven by McDaniel, with Green-Beckham and Prouty as passengers, when police pulled McDaniel over for an expired tag Jan. 10. The Springfield Police Department officer reported that he smelled marijuana coming from the car, then discovered the drugs, two digital scales, a grinder and plastic bags after receiving consent to search.
Prouty admitted to police that he owned the marijuana.
The case remains under investigation by the SPD, and it's unclear what if any formal charges will be brought against Green-Beckham.
It was Green-Beckham's second marijuana-related arrest since arriving on the Missouri campus in 2012. Missouri coach Gary Pinkel has not announced any disciplinary measure for Green-Beckham.
Green-Beckham, one of the top returning wide receivers in college football next season, had 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore for the SEC East champion Tigers last season.
