Showing up at the BCS National Championship Game for some face time on ESPN was one thing.
But to Johnny Manziel, showing up among the celebrities at the Super Bowl is quite another. NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt reports that the former Texas A&M quarterback and top NFL draft prospect will stick with his training regimen as he continues preparing for the NFL Scouting Combine.
Super Bowl + Manziel seem perfect match but rep I spoke w yesterday says Manziel won't be making NYC appearance. Working out instead.â Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) January 30, 2014
Manziel is training in San Diego with several other draft prospects under private quarterback coach George Whitfield Jr. NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reported that, according to Manziel's agent, the Super Bowl isn't the only temptation the former Aggies star has fended off for draft preparation.
.@ErikBurkhardt said Manziel turned down âseveral lucrative marketing offersâ to train in San Diego. âHis focus remains 100% on footballââ Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 30, 2014
Missing out on the Super Bowl and the chance to rub elbows with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment would be a bummer for anyone, even Manziel, who has done his share of jetsetting.
But as most of the nation thaws from a hard freeze, Manziel's days in San Diego, pictured below with Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas, don't look too bad:
