Former Alabama quarterback Luke Del Rio, the son of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, will enroll at Oregon State, the school announced Saturday.

Del Rio, who announced his plans to leave the Crimson Tide earlier this month, will be eligible to play in 2015 and have three years of eligibility remaining.

Del Rio had scholarship offers from the likes of the Beavers, Oklahoma State and Colorado State coming out of high school, but he chose to walk on at Alabama instead. Del Rio claimed the No. 3 spot on the depth chart this season but was facing a serious numbers crunch in the upcoming competition to replace AJ McCarron as the starter.

Instead, Del Rio (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) will probably compete with Cal transfer Zach Kline next year to replace senior Sean Mannion at Oregon State.

Oregon State head coach Mike Riley has found success with transfer quarterbacks in the past, including Miami Dolphins backup Matt Moore.
