Josh McDaniels, Bob Stoops targeted by Browns

The Cleveland Browns' search for their next head coach is heating up.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport said Saturday on NFL Network's "GameDay Morning" that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Oklahoma Sooners coach Bob Stoops are the team's top candidates to replace Rob Chudzinski.

McDaniels and Stoops are currently the only coaches the Browns are focused on, according to a source familiar with the team's thinking.

McDaniels will interview on Saturday. The 37-year-old flamed out as a head coach with the Broncos, and Rapoport said McDaniels has made a concerted effort to improve his interpersonal relationships with coaches. That will be a topic of discussion with the Browns.

As for Stoops, a Brownssource expects the Sooners coach to interview this upcoming week. Rapoport reported that Cleveland believes Stoops is the perfect mix between setting the tone and being a player's coach.

Stoops -- whose college team is fresh off an upset win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl -- has received NFL interest for the last several years, and a source close to him says he's finally interested this year.
