Charles Barkley: Lions 'have no clue' how to play game

The Detroit Lions are an easy target. (What's new?)

After self-combusting down the stretch this season Detroit was the perfect team to point to when NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley sought to compare his former sport with the NFL.

"The Detroit Lions would be the perfect example of a team that's got a bunch of talent that don't have no clue, any clue, how to play football," Barkley told NFL Media's Rich Eisen this week on "The Rich Eisen Podcast."

Barkley isn't the only person with that assessment. Jim Schwartz is no longer the coach in Detroit mainly because of his team's inability to take advantage of its potential.

"In the NBA I could go over a bunch of teams like that -- who have a bunch of talent but they are never going to win," Barkley continued. "But when I watch that Detroit Lions team play, I'm like 'Wow, man they got a lot of talent, but they have no idea how to play football.' And it's frustrating to watch because I'm a fan. I'm a fan. I want to see greatness. Anytime I watch sports I want to see greatness."

Barkley always is entertaining and thoughtful when he discusses any sport.

His discussion with Eisen doesn't disappoint. You can listen to the entire interview by clicking here. Spoiler: Barkley professes his love for Bill Belichick multiple times.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" recapped the coaching carousel and looked back on 2013.
