In reaching the finish line, the 32-year-old wide receiver completed his ninth NFL season, but he doesn't plan on hanging around for the rest of the decade.
"How many more years? I think three or four,'' White recently said, per ESPN. "I don't want to be an ironman like Tony (Gonzalez). He was blessed to go through his stint in the NFL because 17 seasons is a long time to play football, man. I was thinking if I could just get 10, I'll be all right.''
White enters the final year of his contract, but the Falcons could extend him in an effort to lower his $6.325 million salary-cap number for next season.
"Roddy's made it very clear that he wants to be back here for the duration of his career and he's obviously been a beyond-fine football player for us,'' general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "So we're hoping that he will be able to do that.''
White had a depressing season, finishing with just 711 receiving yards after six consecutive seasons with more than 1,000. He ended 2013 on a positive note with two productive games during which he tripled his touchdown total (3).
Julio Jones clearly is the alpha dog of the Atlanta receiving corps. The question is how much longer White will be part of the pack.
