Former President George Bush consoles Alabama's Cade Foster

Cade Foster missed three field goal attempts in Alabama's 34-28 loss to Auburn.

After failing on three field goal tries in his team's crushing 34-28 Iron Bowl defeat to rival Auburn, Alabama kicker Cade Foster has run into scorn and support alike since the Crimson Tide's first loss of the season knocked the team out of the SEC and, potentially, BCS championship games.

But perhaps none of the responses meant as much to him as the one from former President George W. Bush, who sent Foster a handwritten note, which Foster posted on Instagram and Twitter.

Foster wrote for a caption: "Dear cade (#43), Life has its setbacks. I know! However you will be a stronger human with time. I wish you all the best- Sincerely- another 43 George Bush".. Framing this."

Foster, a senior, wears No. 43, and Bush was the nation's 43rd president. Both are Texans.

Foster entered the Iron Bowl with just one missed field goal all season. He was replaced by backup Adam Griffith for the game-ending 57-yard try that resulted in the game-winning 109-yard return by Auburn's Chris Davis.
