Connecticut junior inside linebacker Yawin Smallwood intends to enter the 2014 NFL Draft, the official UConn Twitter account announced Saturday.

Smallwood (6-foot-4, 236 pounds), who is athletic and runs well, finished the season with 118 tackles and four sacks.

"He's an extremely athletic linebacker with excellent speed and quickness," NFL Media draft analyst Bucky Brooks said. "He is the kind of sideline-to-sideline playmaker most NFL defensive coordinators covet in a 4-3 scheme. He is a solid Day 2 prospect who could rise when scouts take a long, hard look at him."

Smallwood had 120 tackles last season and 94 in 2011.
