Geno Smith replaced by Matt Simms for New York Jets

Another lost Sunday for Geno Smith has led to a seat on the bench.

Matt Simms replaced the New York Jets' struggling rookie quarterback to begin the second half of a pivotal Week 13 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Smith was pulled after a brutal first half in which he threw an interception, missed open receivers and completed just four passes for 29 yards. The Jets managed just two first downs in the first two quarters and went into the locker room down six points.

Smith has been locked in a prolonged slump. The rookie has completed fewer than 10 passes in four consecutive games and has one touchdown pass since Week 5. He leads the NFL with 19 interceptions.

Jets coach Rex Ryan stuck with the rookie as long as possible, but Smith's struggles no longer could be ignored.
