Handed a three-year, $6 million contract to fill the void left by Ed Reed, Huff was benched for rookie Matt Elam following the season opener. He was waived in late October after committing what coach John Harbaugh called an "unforgivable" mistake on a kickoff return.
The 30-year-old has started 94 of 115 career games since being chosen No. 7 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft.
Huff will add depth behind Duke Ihenacho and Mike Adams following free safety Rahim Moore's Monday surgery to alleviate the lateral compartment syndrome in his leg. The Broncos subsequently placed Moore on the injured reserve-recall list.
