Injuries you need to know: Wes Welker gets concussion

Wes Welker's status for his return to New England is in doubt. The Denver Broncos wide receiver suffered a concussion Sunday night in the team's 27-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half. Welker took one big hit in the third quarter, left briefly and then returned to take another hit in the head.

The Broncos announced after the game that Welker indeed suffered a concussion. The team heads to New England next Sunday night.

Here are the other injuries from Sunday:

  1. Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed suffered a concussion and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson injured his knee Sunday and did not return. It's dark times for the Redskins, with their once-dominant offense failing to finish drives against Philadelphia in a 24-16 loss to the Eagles.
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders left Sunday's win with a foot injury and never returned. Rookie receiver Markus Wheaton replaced Sanders in the lineup.
  1. Eagles running back LeSean McCoy left with a hamstring injury at one stage, but he was able to return to the tilt against Washington.
  1. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings was declared inactive before the team's 41-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks despite being listed as probable with an Achilles injury before the game.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Brown left with a shoulder injury in the third quarter of the team's 27-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
  1. New Orleans Saints starting cornerback Jabari Greer was carted off the field with an air cast around his leg during the team's 23-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers. The annually underrated cornerback was declared to have a left knee injury. It did not look good.
  1. San Francisco guard Mike Iupati injured his knee against the Saints and did not return.
  1. San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen left Sunday's 20-16 loss in Miami with a knee injury. The early sense is hypertension.
  1. Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse suffered a concussion against the Vikings.
  1. Chiefs defensive end Mike DeVito left Sunday night's loss to the Broncos with a left knee injury, per NFL Media's Steve Wyche. Offensive tackle Eric Fisher injured his shoulder and did not return.
