Greg Schiano: Vincent Jackson needs more touches

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers know they need playmaking wide receiver Vincent Jackson to get the ball more often if they are to improve upon their first win of the season.

Jackson was targeted just 12 times over the last two weeks (five catches), which coincided with fellow receiver Mike Williams going on injured reserve. Defenses have been rolling toward the Bucs' only big-play receiver.

"We need to make sure he gets his touches because he's a dynamic player," coach Greg Schiano said, per The Tampa Tribune. "You're talking about a Pro Bowl player.

"And, certainly, with the loss of some (of our) weapons offensively, defenses are really going to key on him now. That's a fact of life. But get over it and find a way to get him the ball. That's what we have to do.''

With running back Mike James' recent injury, the Buccaneers now have to count on Brian Leonard and Bobby Rainey out of the backfield. Those depth issues put more pressure on the passing game, too.

Jackson still is working out the kinks with rookie quarterback Mike Glennon.

Going against a pliable Atlanta Falcons defense this week should provide Jackson an opportunity to break out of his current funk.
