Terrelle Pryor (knee) sits out Oakland Raiders' practice

The health of Terrelle Pryor remains a question mark as the Oakland Raiders begin preparation for their Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans.

The third-year quarterback -- dealing with the effects of a sprained MCL in his right knee -- sat out practice Wednesday. CSN Bay Area reported that Pryor was not wearing a helmet and did not take part in drills.

Pryor played through the issue in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants but said he was "very sore" after the game. He suffered the injury in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pryor said Wednesday that playing at far less than 100 percent against the Giants "fired back against me." He called it a lesson he can learn from.

"When you're out there and you're letting your ego in the way and your competitive nature in the way, you tend to lose track of what the big picture is, and that's the team," he said, via the team's official website.

It certainly sounds like Pryor would be open to sitting if the knee doesn't improve this week. If he can't go, the Raiders would turn to Matt McGloin against the league's No. 1 pass defense.

Some other injury news from around the league:

1. San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that tight end Vernon Davis and safety Eric Reid no longer are experiencing concussion symptoms after Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers. Both players have been cleared for non-contact participation.

2. Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was not seen in the portion of practice available to media. Gonzalez suffered a toe injury during Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

3. The Buffalo Bills practiced without wide receivers Stevie Johnson (groin) and Robert Woods (ankle). Coach Doug Marrone ruled Woods out for Sunday's tilt against the New York Jets

4. New York Giants pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) sat out practice Wednesday and said he would also miss practice Thursday. Pierre-Paul did not sound optimistic that he would play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

5. Quarterback Peyton Manning will play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos interim coach Jack Del Rio said.
