Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott is available to play Saturday at Texas A&M, returning from his grieving family after his mother, Peggy, died of cancer last weekend. MSU coach Dan Mullen confirmed Prescott's decision to return to the Bulldogs earlier this week on his radio program. Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin applauded Prescott's perseverence.
"That's a difficult situation for anyone, especially a young man of his age," Sumlin said.
Prescott missed practices earlier in the week. Mullen and some members of the team traveled to Louisiana to attend the funeral Wednesday. Prescott has taken over as the Bulldogs' quarterback this year after returning starter Tyler Russell was lost for several weeks with a concussion suffered in the season opener against Oklahoma State. Upon his return, Russell saw action but Prescott has emerged at the helm of the offense.
