Report: Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon likely to stay in school

Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon is averaging 134.3 rushing yards per game.

Wisconsin tailback Melvin Gordon, a third-year sophomore who is eligible for the 2014 NFL Draft, is likely to stay in school because he wants to make a run at the Heisman next fall, a writer for badgerblitz.com tweeted Tuesday.

The tweet from badgerblitz.com staff writer Zach Miller stated that a source close to Gordon said it would be "shocking" if Gordon left school after this season.

Gordon (6-foot-1, 207 pounds) is second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in rushing, at 134.3 yards per game, despite sharing time with senior James White. Gordon has rushed for 11 TDs and averages 8.7 yards per carry.

While Gordon's receiving ability is a huge question -- he has one reception this season and three in his career -- his penchant for the big play is enticing. Cfbstats.com shows that Gordon has seven rushes for at least 30 yards and leads the nation with four of at least 60 yards and three of at least 70.
