Johnny Manziel lights up UTEP with big performance

School was again in session for another Johnny Football opponent Saturday, and the bell rang six times for UTEP.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel accounted for half a dozen touchdowns -- four passing, two rushing -- in less than three quarters of action, and the Aggies thrashed UTEP, 57-7. And notice was once again served that Manziel isn't yet out of the Heisman Trophy race.

Manziel completed 16 of 24 passes for 273 yards and four scores, with no interceptions. Two touchdown passes went to former walk-on Travis Labhart, and another went to star sophomore Mike Evans. On the ground, Manziel rushed sparingly but effectively, picking up 67 yards on only seven carries and two more scores. One of those rushing touchdowns went for 49 yards as Manziel weaved through the heart of the UTEP pass defense on a second-half scramble.

Manziel has accounted for 33 touchdowns on the season, 25 passing and eight rushing.

The Aggies face Mississippi State in their final home game of the season, and perhaps the final home game of Manziel's career, next Saturday.
