Andrew Whitworth (knee) inactive for Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was without his blindside protector for the team's matchup with the Miami Dolphins on NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football."

Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is inactive for Thursday's game, the Bengals announced. NFL Media's Alex Flanagan earlier reported on "NFL Total Access Kickoff" that Whitworth was unlikely to play with swelling in his knee.

Whitworth had offseason surgery on his left knee and missed the Bengals' season-opener against the Chicago Bears. Whitworth's recovery from knee surgery was profiled on HBO's "Hard Knocks."
