Following the Bears' Week 7 loss, in which Meriweather was flagged twice for launching his helmet into the head and neck area of defenseless receivers, Marshall called out the noted headhunter while Bennett expressed a desire to punch him in the face.
Meriweather has proven to be either a dirty player or a foolish one.
The NFL attempted to send a loud message with the unprecedented two-game ban for a repeat offender. It has to be frustrating that a third party has essentially let Meriweather off with a slap on the wrist.
The league office can fix that problem by permanently banning Meriweather the next time he uses his helmet as a weapon.
