Mike Munchak 'proud' of Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt

Kenny Britt played a grand total of two snaps in Week 6, more than enough circumstantial evidence to tell us the Tennessee Titans wide receiver has taken up lodging in a master suite of Mike Munchak's doghouse.

Apparently, looks can be deceiving. Munchak praised Britt on Thursday, and said the wideout will see a big bump in playing time Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

"Kenny has handled a tough situation very well, and I'm proud of him for that," Munchak said, according to the Tennessean. "It is not easy, and it is frustrating for him, I'm sure. I am sure he is hearing it from a lot of people. I know his expectations are so high. But he is handling himself really well."

Britt was demoted from the starting lineup after several drops in September. He was flushed out of three-receiver sets on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. He has just seven catches for 59 yards on the season.

"He needs to play more. He needs to get 20 snaps," Munchak said. "I'd like to give him opportunities to make plays. Maybe he's not starting, and maybe he's not in the starting groups. But he needs to be in the mix, because the guy still has talent. We still believe in him, and want to give him opportunities even if he has dropped some balls."

As for the speculation that Tennessee plans to move Britt ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline?

"We have no plans to (trade him)," Munchak said. "Obviously, anything can happen. But we he needs to help us win games, and hopefully that will be this weekend."

Does Munchak sincerely believe Britt still can be a difference-maker, or is a bump in playing time designed to enhance the receiver's fading trade appeal? Whatever the case, Britt will get another shot at redemption Sunday.
