The Browns plan to place Johnson on the non-football injury list while he rehabs from surgery. He'll count against the 53-man roster until Oct. 27, per league rules.
Johnson is a project player who played his college ball at Division II Grand Valley State. So why keep him around?
Because Johnson possesses freakish size (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) and speed (he runs a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash), with a 39.5-inch vertical jump. We doubt he came armed with deep trade secrets from the Packers -- Cleveland's opponent this week -- so the Browns obviously see something they like.
As with all things Cleveland, they'll have to wait until next season to see what they have here.
