Jones caught just two passes, an 11-yard touchdown pass and a 31-yard reception, in the Ravens' 19-17 loss Sunday to the Green Bay Packers. However, the wide receiver's mere presence on the field made a difference in how the Packers defended.
Thus far, teams have been intent on not letting Torrey Smith beat them deep. Jones' return gives defenses another speedy outside receiver to deal with. As we saw in the limited snaps Jones played in Week 6, having him on the field with Smith opens up the short, crossing and down-the-middle routes to Tandon Doss and Dallas Clark.
Increased playing time for Jones is good news for Joe Flacco's ability to open up the offense, but he isn't the panacea for a stymied running game. The Ravens need better blocking from the offensive line for that to perk up.
