Darrelle Revis approved for 'Revis Island' trademark

Darrelle Revis now officially owns the island.

ESPN's Darren Rovell reported Monday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback has been awarded registered ownership of the phrase "Revis Island," more than three years after filing for the trademark.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office website approved the request Sept. 24. It's unclear what Revis plans to do with the term, but generating greenbacks is our guess.

Considering how he's been used in Tampa, Revis might want to think about trademarking the "Revis Zone" while he's at it. Working at its feverish pace, the patent office should have that processed and ready to roll sometime in the middle of 2016.
