Fans can buy Johnny Manziel-trodden turf from Texas A&M

Texas A&M is placing pallets of Kyle Field turf for sale online. And while Johnny Manziel's name or likeness isn't part of the pitch, imagining his cleat marks may be a suitable substitute for Aggies fans, by some estimates. For $400, a full pallet can be yours, covering some 450 square yards, or you by-the-slice pizza eaters may prefer a single square for $20.

That's the going rate for turf exiting the stadium to facilitate upgrades set to begin at the end of the season.

Step right up.

The particulars, from the school athletic department's release:

"The buy-it-now online sale will start on Monday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. on AggieAthletics.com. Texas A&M will harvest the playing surface following the final home game on Nov. 9. Each harvested pallet will cost $400 and contains approximately 450 square feet of sod. The buyer will be required to pick-up on Sunday, Nov. 10. No requests for specific sections of the field will be accepted."

Sounds as though a premium could have been charged for the end zone turf where a well-off alum and his grandson saw Johnny Football score the key touchdown. It's a bit harder to imagine the rush on a specific piece of grass that had to do with Von Miller or Quentin Coryatt.
